Consulting on Chinese Labeling

Compliant labels are very important for customs inspection and clearance when it comes to the importation of agricultural and food products. According to the requirements of General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of P.R. China, before pre-packaged food is imported or distributed into China, labeling verification must be sought as well as conformity test must be done.

In China, pre-packaged food products are subject to many detailed and onerous regulations and national standards, meanwhile different local authorities may have a different interpretation on the regulations and different control measures on import requirements. Exporting to different areas of China shall each be treated as an individual case in order to avoid potential issues. Not having a clear understanding of the Chinese standards of the product you are exporting to China could be one of the most costly mistakes. Overseas products will be detained, rejected or even destroyed due to non-compliant labeling.

Consulting on registration with CFDA

China State Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) requests companies to obtain a market for their cosmetics and health foods before entering into China market.

Cosmetics:

According to documents issued by SFDA, cosmetics can be classified into two main categories. The first category is "nonspecial purpose cosmetics", which refers to cosmetics with no medicinal effects, such as hair care products (such as shampoo, conditioner, styling agent), skin care products (such as skin cleanser, skin toner, and moisturizer), makeup (such as foundation, rouge, and mascara), lip care products, nail care products and perfumes. CFDA requests companies to obtain market approval for their cosmetic products before entering into China market. There are two types of market approvals: ‘Recorded Certificate of Imported General-Used Cosmetics’ and ‘Hygiene Permit of Imported Quasi-drug Cosmetics’. Furthermore, to protect the consumers’ right to know, all imported cosmetics have to fulfill labeling requirements of GB Standards.

Health foods:

In China, health foods are divided into two categories, nutritional supplements /dietary supplements (such as vitamins, calcium tablet) and functional health foods (such as fish oil). All health foods in China must be approved and registered with the CFDA, which will assess and examine the security, effectiveness, quality control, and labeling products.
